Please read the directions very carefully. Driving in Boston can be quite
tricky. FACT - Boston streets were planned by cows hundreds of years ago.

Those attending both VSIP and MPI meeting may consider hotel accommodations
closer to Mitre. If so you may need directions to Maynard different from
those I've given. Please contact me and I'll provide them.

The most confusing and hectic part of your trip from Logan Airport occurs
between the time you leave the rental agency and the time you enter I-93.
Please be careful and patient.

Directions from Logan Airport to Sumner Tunnel:

* Most car rental agencies are located in the northwest corner of
 the airport complex.

* The prevailing traffic pattern at the airport is counter clock-
 wise, so you will probably have to turn right after leaving your
 rental agency.

* Follow the signs for the airport exit onto Rt. 1-A towards the
 Sumner Tunnel, I-93, and Boston. You should be in the center
 lane as you approach the exit.

     WARNING - the airport exit ramp merges into the high-speed lane
      of traffic that is southbound on Rt. 1-A.

    WARNING - during peak hours, traffic is sometimes routed north
       on Rt. 1-A away from Boston, towards Winthrop and Revere.
        If this happens to you, take the first exit, stay in
        the left lane on the down ramp, turn left, pass under
        the overpass, and then turn left again onto the up ramp.

* Now, traveling south on Rt. 1-A, bear to the right as you approach
  the toll booth for the Sumner Tunnel. In my experience, the right
  lane always seems to flow more smoothly.

Directions from Sumner Tunnel to Westford Regency (Note: This site is
quite far away from Maynard and should be avoided for that reason
if possible.)

* Enter the Sumner Tunnel in the left lane. Pass through the tunnel
and enter the up ramp for I-93 North.

   WARNING - traffic patterns at the exit from the tunnel are, to say
       the least, chaotic. Please be in the left lane when you
       exit the tunnel, as invariable others will want to turn
       right in order to go south even as you want to go straight
       in order to go north.

* Follow I-93 North some 20-25 miles to I-495 South. Somewhere around
10-15 miles, you'll cross I-95. Do not be confused.

* Follow I-495 South for 10 miles or more to Exit 32, Boston Road.

* Turn left at the end of the exit ramp. Proceed 1/4 mile to the
 first intersection and then turn right on Rt 110 West. The
 Westford Regency is 1/2 mile on your right.

Directions from Sumner Tunnel to I-95/Rt 128 - (All points west including
Holiday Inn - Boxborough, Radisson Inn - Marlborough, Best Western -
Marlborough, and DEC - Maynard):

* Enter the Sumner Tunnel in the right lane. Pass through the tunnel
 and exit bearing sharply to the right. Avoid getting caught in traffic
 that will force you onto the up ramp for I-93 North. Immediately after
  exiting sharply right, start bearing left next to the retaining wall
  for the up ramp of I-93 North.

WARNING - traffic patterns at the exit from the tunnel are, to say
     the least, chaotic. Please be in the right lane when you
     exit the tunnel, as invariable others will want to go
     straight in order to go north, even as you want to turn
     right in order to go south.

* At the first traffic light, turn left passing under I-93, and then
  turn left again onto the up ramp for I-93 South.

* Enter I-93 South and follow it for about 1.1 miles to the I-90/Mass
 Pike/Albany Street exit. I-93 goes underground about .5 miles
 after you enter it. The I-90/Mass Pike/Albany Street exit is on the
 right immediately after I-93 re-emerges.

* Keep right as you exit I-93 onto I-90/Mass Pike.

* Follow I-90/Mass Pike West for 10.8 miles.

* If you are continuing west to Marlborough or Boxborough get in one of
  the left lanes as you approach the I-95/Rt 128 intersection and pass
  through the toll booth, following I-90/Mass Pike West. Otherwise,
 get in one of the right lanes and exit through the toll booth onto
 I-95/Rt. 128 North towards Waltham and Gloucester.

Directions from I-95/Rt. 128 to DEC - Maynard.

* Follow I-95/Rt. 128 North for about 2.0-2.5 miles to US Rt. 20

* Exit onto US Rt. 20 following the traffic circle 3/4ths of the way
  round to follow US Rt. 20 West towards Weston, Wayland, and Sudbury.

* Follow US Rt. 20 West for 5.0-5.5 miles to the intersection of
  US Rt 20 with combined Rt 27/Rt 126.

* Turn right onto Rt 27 North. The road forks almost immediately with
Rt 126 departing to the right. Bear left following Rt 27 North towards
Sudbury.

* Follow Rt 27 North through the traffic light in Sudbury center.
 (The church on the right is quite beautiful in the fall and is often
 featured on calendars.) After about .3 miles, Rt. 27 bears sharply
  right at the fire station.

* Follow Rt. 27 for another 3.0-3.5 miles. The Parker Street campus
will be on your right about 1.0-1.5 miles after you enter Maynard,
but before you reach the intersection with Rt 117.

* The meeting will be held in building three, which is on your left,
 across the pond, as you enter the campus. You may park anywhere.
 The visitor entrance is located in the northwest corner of the
 building. (The corner farthest from Rt 27 that's nearest the pond).

Directions from I-95/Rt 128 to I-495 North - ( All hotels west including
Holiday Inn - Boxborough, Radisson Inn - Marlborough, and
Best Western - Marlborough):

* Follow I-90/Mass Pike West to I-495 North.

Directions from I-495 North to Radisson, Marlborough

* Follow I-495 North to Route 20 West (Exit 24B).

* Take first right at end of exit ramp before gas station. Hotel is
on the right

Directions from I-495 North to Best Western Royal Plaza, Marlborough

* Follow I-495 North to Route 20 West (Exit 24B).

* The hotel is one mile west, near the bottom of a small incline, on
your right.

Directions from I-495 North to Boxborough Holiday Inn Hotel

* Follow I-495 North to to Route 111, (Boxborough/Harvard).

* Turn left off the ramp, and take the first road on the right
(Adams Place).

Directions from hotels to DEC Parker Street, Maynard:

* Follow I-495 South (Westford and Boxborough - hotels) or
North (Marlborough hotels) to Rt 117 (Bolton/Stow) exit.

* At bottom of exit ramp, turn right if you exited I-495 South, or
left if you exited I-495 North, onto Rt 117 East towards Stow and
Maynard.

* Follow Rt 117 through Stow and into Maynard. The road forks at
the first traffic light intersection in Maynard. Bear right
following Great Rd. east to the intersection with Rt 27.

* Turn right onto Rt 27 South.

* The DEC Parker Street campus is located on the right about
.5 miles

* The meeting will be held in building three, which is on your left,
across the pond, as you enter the campus. You may park anywhere.
The visitor entrance is located in the northwest corner of the
building. (The corner farthest from Rt 27 that's nearest the pond).
